The collection, which was developed under the creative direction of Aurore Melot and company founder Thomas Sabo, is inspired by ancient landscapes and classical symbolism, with designs that reference strength, freedom and timelessness.

Central to the collection is the Elyndra horse motif, which the brand describes as a symbol of “freedom, strength and courage”.

It also features protective eye designs representing intuition and foresight. Other pieces include hand chains, gemstone bracelets, adjustable necklaces and sculptural earrings.

Elyndra uses recycled 925 silver and some pieces are finished with 18k gold plating. The line incorporates a range of stones, including tiger’s eye, green aventurine, red agate and yellow jasper.

Additional accents come from turquoise, cubic zirconia and coloured stones in garnet red, white and emerald green.

Described by the brand as embodying “inner strength, timeless taste and femininity”, the new line features individually designed pieces with “distinctive” silhouettes.

These include filigree hand chains, double-row gemstones, necklaces with sliding clasps and decorative earrings.

A new packaging concept will also launch alongside the range, featuring a minimalist design in warm beige.

All items in the collection will be available from Thomas Sabo stores worldwide, online and through selected independent retailers.

Gemfields has announced that it will offer a broader range of secondary-type material at
its forthcoming mixed-quality ruby auction in June 2025.

The auction will include rubies recovered from a newer section of its Mozambican mine that has not previously been represented at auction in meaningful quantities and with a notable 36-carat ruby forming part of the offering.

This section lies within the concession of Montepuez Ruby Mining (MRM), which is located in the Montepuez district of Cabo Delgado province in Mozambique.

Gemfields stated that the rubies recently recovered from this newer section of the mine exhibit noticeable differences in characteristics compared to the secondary-type rubies which it has brought to market.

Adrian Banks, managing director for product and sales at Gemfields, said: “It is exciting
to see the evolving variety of rubies being recovered by Montepuez Ruby Mining. I am particularly eager to see how a single fine-quality ruby weighing 36 carats will perform at our auction. I believe this ruby will be strongly contested by discerning clients who recognise the rarity and significance of such a gemstone, given both its size and quality.”

The upcoming completion of a new 400 tonne-per-hour ore processing plant will triple MRM’s through-put capacity.

Independent jewellery retailer Bradley’s Jewellers York has announced the launch of its new ‘Something Blue’ collection, accompanied by a blue floral exterior display in celebration of the theme.

Inspired by the age-old phrase “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,” Bradley’s Jewellers York has created a capsule collection of blue gemstone jewellery for brides-to-be.

Highlights include sky blue aquamarine and diamond cocktail rings, trilogy rings, sapphire-studded lockets, and earrings and pendants set with topaz and sapphires.

Bradley’s Jewellers York is also well-known for its floral displays, often encouraging customers to ‘follow the flowers’ when searching for the store on Low Petergate.

For the summer season, the business has committed to a blue theme with meaningful arrangements that mirror the themes of “love and commitment found in bridal jewellery”.

For example, hydrangeas were chosen to symbolise “heartfelt emotion”, while delphiniums were selected to represent “open hearts, cheerfulness and goodwill”.

Bradley’s Jewellers York specialises in engagement rings, wedding bands, eternities, and bridal jewellery, including a vast selection of pearls, coloured gemstone jewellery and a bespoke design service.

The retailer has also opted to return to in-person wedding fairs and events in 2025 after witnessing a sharp rise in bespoke bridal appointments among couples looking for more tailored experiences.

Kay Bradley, Bradley’s Jewellers York owner, said: “Traditionally, ‘something blue’ is worn by a bride on her wedding day as a symbol of love, purity and fidelity. Although this blue item can be anything, we think a precious piece of fine jewellery is the most timeless way to go, especially as it can be passed down as an heirloom for the next generation. When we debuted this collection at The Northern Wedding Show in Newcastle in March, it proved hugely popular, and that gave us the confidence to go ‘all out’ with our exterior displays too.

“Florals are one of my greatest sources of inspiration when designing new collections, which is evident in our York Rose, York Daffodil, Rainbow Daisy, and Arts & Crafts collections. Having such a vibrant display on the exterior of our Grade II Listed, 500-year-old storefront is a real talking point and helps to highlight what customers will find inside.”

Tiffany and Co. has announced the acquisition of a 7,500-carat kunzite crystal, which will be transformed into 10 custom-cut gemstones for its new Bird on a Rock brooch collection.

Found in Mozambique, Africa over 25 years ago, the 7,500-carat rough kunzite showcases “exceptional” size, clarity and colour, making it a rare gem.

The gemstone boasts purple to deep lilac hues, and was named in honour of Dr. George Frederick Kunz, Tiffany and Co.’s first chief gemologist.

A self-taught mineralogist and a renowned authority on coloured gemstones, Dr. Kunz helped establish Tiffany and Co. as the “preeminent source for the rarest and most extraordinary jewels”.

Alongside morganite, tanzanite and tsavorite, it is one of the house’s “legacy gemstones” that the jeweller introduced to the world throughout the 20th Century.

The acquisition marks a significant milestone in Tiffany and Co.’s heritage of exceptional gemstones—one that began in 1877 with Charles Lewis Tiffany’s acquisition of the Tiffany Diamond.

These one-of-a-kind custom-cut creations will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Jean Schlumberger’s bird motif that Tiffany and Co. introduced in 1965.

Designed by Jean Schlumberger in 1965, Bird on a Rock is inspired by a cockatoo, and the brooch reflects Schlumberger’s fascination with nature and movement.

It has showcased coloured gemstones, most notably the Tiffany Diamond in 1995. Known for its craftsmanship, each piece is meticulously hand set by Tiffany artisans using carefully curated gemstones.

Some distinguished clients will have the unique opportunity to work with Tiffany’s chief gemologist to collaborate on their custom-cut kunzite.

Victoria Wirth Reynolds, chief gemologist and vice president of High Jewellery Diamond and Gemstone Acquisition at Tiffany & Co., said: “This kunzite of over 7,500 carats marks a significant moment in Tiffany’s legacy of exceptional gemstones. Named in honor of Tiffany’s first chief gemologist in 1902, this crystal’s exceptional size, clarity and colour are rare testaments to Mother Nature’s artistry.

“We are honored to share this incredible gemstone with the world; by cutting 10 unique stones from the rough, it will be the perfect celebration to honor the 60th anniversary of the iconic Bird on a Rock.”

Gemfields has announced that it has partnered with PureJewels on the emerald-themed Zariya collection to combine emeralds from Gemfields’ Kagem mine in Zambia with designs inspired by the fresh buds of May.

Taking its name from the Hindi word ‘Zariya’, meaning a medium, source, or pathway, the collection was inspired by the concept of introspection.

The designs are handcrafted in London using traditional techniques such as wire-drawing, forging and stressing gold, using the brand’s signature 22k Sunrise Gold, whose regal golden glow pairs perfectly with the majestic green of Zambian emeralds.

Highlights from the Zariya collection include a Shooting Star Emerald Cuff and Dropper Earrings with a twisted design exuding timeless charm.

There is also the Solo Emerald Pendant and Horizon Emerald Necklace with an intricate twist-wire design, and two show-stopping rings.

The PureJewels and Gemfields Zariya collection ranges from $1,210 (£903) to $6,300 (£4,705) and is available on PureJewels website.

Jayant Raniga, PureJewels CEO, said: “As we mark 75 years, PureJewels remains dedicated to preserving heritage crafts. Partnering with Gemfields for this milestone allows us to reinforce our commitment to a responsible supply chain and to showcase the real impact of responsible sourcing – a value deeply embedded in our brand.”

Emily Dungey, Gemfields’ marketing and communications director, added: “Thought to symbolise hope, growth and the natural world, emeralds couldn’t be more appropriate for a collection dedicated to introspection and balance.

“The calming green hue of Zambian emeralds sings in PureJewels’ clever settings, flowing light through the gemstone facets so that they dance when worn. The PureJewels x Gemfields Zariya collection lends itself equally to stacking for a modern look, or a single, elegant statement with a pleasing pop of green.”

British jeweller Kiki McDonough has today (25 April 2025) launched its new Everyday Gold collection, featuring the designer’s signature coloured gemstone designs in gold settings.

Inspired by the desire to recreate some of her “popular” gold rings from the 1980s, founder Kiki McDonough has expanded the collection to include complementary earrings, necklaces, and bracelets.

As the brand celebrates its 40th anniversary, the Everyday Gold Collection illustrates the brand’s “signature style”, creating designs with “contemporary appeal that are ideal for everyday wear”.

The seven-strong ring range offers a different piece for every day of the week. The double rings take inspiration from McDonough’s Ripple ring, which can be worn stacked, either two or three at a time.

The collection also includes a chain-link gold necklace accented with coloured gemstones, along with a selection of chunky earrings available in teardrop, oval, and flower shapes, each set with gemstones.

Additionally, a gemstone chain bracelet rounds out the collection. Pieces within the Everyday Gold collection feature McDonough’s signature Citrine, Fire Opal, Peridot, Blue Topaz and Amethyst gemstones.

Founded in London by fifth-generation jeweller McDonough, the eponymous fine jewellery brand is renowned for showcasing vibrant gemstones in wearable designs.

McDonough said: “As Kiki McDonough celebrates 40 years of designing wearable, colourful jewellery this year, the Everyday Gold Collection perfectly illustrates the brand’s signature style, creating timeless designs with contemporary appeal, that are ideal for elevating every day.”

Cleghorn’s role will see him leading Laings’ seven retail locations in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Southampton.

Coming from a rich retail background, with over 40 years of experience, he joined Laings in 2021 taking over the management of the company’s Edinburgh showroom.

Before Laings, he worked as a retail manager, responsible for up to 20 locations. Throughout his time with the business, Cleghorn has also managed Laings’ previous location in Glasgow’s Argyll Arcade and most recently the new flagship showroom on Buchanan Street, which opened in 2024.

Whilst in this role he mentored staff through product launches and expansions, alongside further improving Laings’ luxury shopping experience and growing sales.

His transition into this role is part of a multi-year investment strategy aimed at strengthening the company.

In recent years, Laings has expanded its presence in Southampton with a move to a larger unit inside West Quay shopping centre and further solidified its footprint in Glasgow by opening a flagship showroom on Buchanan Street.

The new location features a two-floor retail space, a watch service centre, and the company’s head office operations.

Cleghorn’s role will see him as a direct point of contact for store managers and teams and will focus on driving business to each location.

He will also maintain a strong focus on Laings’ diamond and jewellery business at each site, with particular emphasis on Laings Bespoke Design Service.

Additionally, he will prioritise the newly launched Exclusive Creations range – a collection of limited-edition gemstone pieces, designed and crafted in-house.

Cleghorn said:”I am very proud to be taking over as head of retail here at Laings. This step allows me to work closely with the store teams who I have developed relationships with over the last few years whilst also working actively with the board to develop Laings’ presence in the luxury retail space.”

Stuart McDowell, managing director of Laings, added: “Andrew Cleghorn has been instrumental in the success of Laings’ retail spaces throughout his time with the company. His leadership in launching the new flagship showroom further highlights his expertise, making him the ideal choice for this role. We look forward to working alongside him to establish Laings as the premier destination for fine jewellery and luxury watches across all our locations.”

Dior has announced the launch of its latest additions to its Rose Des Vents collection, devised in 2015 by Victoire de Castellane as a tribute to the history of the brand.

Inspired by the compass rose in Dior’s childhood home in Granville, the new additions include a Tribale-inspired ring and a celestial reversible medallion necklace, blending sun and moon motifs with mother-of-pearl and onyx.

Furthermore, the collection includes charms, featuring lilies of the valley, roses, and even a bee in flight. Alongside this there is a plastron necklace that layers the collection’s motifs with hidden gemstone details.

The Étoile des Vents range, includes diamond-studded talismans on ear cuffs and necklaces, creating celestial constellations. These designs will be unveiled in July 2025.

This new line follows the launch of the Gem Dior collection which is “enriched by unprecedented models”, such as earrings in yellow, rose or white gold.

The collection also includes a bracelet sublimated by a gradation of sapphires and spessartite garnets and was designed as a tribute to Victoire de Castellane’s passion for colour.
